Dr. Chang-Hwan Cho appears on MBN News

On MBN News, Dr. Chang-Hwan Cho of Dong-An Joongsim Clinic discussed skin care after a winter ski trip. He explained that the combination of ultraviolet exposure and cold wind can contribute to melasma, freckles and dryness, making skin protection as important on the slopes as in summer. Sunscreen was the first item on his list of essentials.

Dr. Cho explained that snow can reflect more than 80–90% of ultraviolet radiation, describing exposure on the slopes as roughly four times that of summer and linking it to tanning, freckles and melasma. He advised applying a generous amount of sunscreen, about the size of a Korean 500-won coin, 30 minutes before going outdoors, choosing at least SPF 30 and PA++, and reapplying every two to three hours. He also stressed hydration: cold winds can dry the skin, reduce firmness and accentuate fine lines. He suggested applying moisturizer thoroughly and adding two or three drops of facial oil for longer-lasting moisture. For skin that feels rough or tight after skiing, he suggested a warm, damp towel (a wet towel warmed up, or a towel soaked in warm water and wrung out), and milk cleansing or a hydrating mask for pronounced dryness. He emphasized preventing damage because recovery takes time and care. He also mentioned stretching and gentle aerobic exercise.
