Dr. Chang-Hwan Cho on ASLS Publications: Documenting Korean Aesthetic Medicine

An Interview with Dr. Chang-Hwan Cho: How ASLS Publications Preserve the Identity and History of Korean Aesthetic Medicine
Although Korean aesthetic medicine is recognized internationally, much of its clinical experience and technical knowledge had yet to be documented systematically. To address this gap, ASLS published its first academic book in 2018. The response exceeded expectations and reinforced the value of the project, leading to further work on standardizing knowledge in areas such as skin boosters, lasers and lifting treatments.
Skin boosters were a particular focus: the number of products and range of applications could make the field difficult to navigate. The ASLS series organized this information clearly for doctors in Korea and overseas. Producing the books required contributions from numerous specialists, extensive research and verification, and a lengthy editing process. Seeing the books used in clinical practice made that work worthwhile.
The publishing program aims to document the identity and depth of Korean aesthetic medicine for an international readership and pass that knowledge on to future doctors. ASLS plans to continue publishing and translating its work to strengthen clinical standards and share Korean experience with colleagues overseas.
